Lanzarote Relocation

The workpeople of the company Limpieza y Transportes Pedro Santana, hired by the Yaiza Ayuntamiento to carry the collection of garbage out, went on strike today – as they protest for the delay of payments that they suffer on the part of the company.

The Ayuntamiento says that, although they confirm that the difficult economic situation delays sometimes the payments to the company, they say that they were unaware of the protests. Rodríguez, also councilman of Treasury in the southern Consistory, emphasizes that “ we are the Town Hall that has less delays in payments and always tried to pay ”. Also, he underlines that “ the collection of garbages is something of a priority and we have always paid month to month ”.

The employees of Limpieza y Transportes Pedro Santana also have made a statement in which they declare that if by March 16 they have not received the money that is owed to them they will begin an indefinite strike. Also they have promised that, from now, if they do not receive their salaries before the 5th of each month, they will strike on the 6th of each month.
