Lanzarote Relocation

This walk took us down the steep slopes from the Goat Farm at Femes, down towards Juan Betancourt Beach (more history about that beach to follow next week).

We then headed south just before the coast to a beautiful little decorated beach where people have left their keepsakes, memories of loved ones, and messages for others to read. There is also a lovely tended little garden there.

After that, we headed back North, hugging the waterline but over the Barrancos before enjoying a glass or two of something chilled and lovely at 7 Islas in Playa Quemada.

It wasn’t the easiest walk I had done – mainly because personally I struggle somewhat coming down slopes with loose gravel. But you can also reach it by heading from Playa Quemada. I will add the route for that direction next week, as we are walking it on April 11th.

Enjoy the photos! The route is shown on the map at the bottom of this page. It’s a very very rough view… so do please use proper maps if you are planning this walk. Do also ensure you have plenty of water, as there are no shops. Do also wear sturdy walking shoes with a good grip.

The walk took us about an hour and three quarters to get from Femes to the decorated beach – and then another half an hour or so to get on towards Playa Quemada. It was pretty windy – but the views were well worth it – and we also managed to steer clear of a large flock of sheep, complete with young lambs.
