The Rain in Spain Falls Mainly… in Playa Blanca?
We were caught out this past weekend, with some of the heaviest rain that the Island has seen in quite a few years. Most of the Lanzarote escaped the torrents… but many homes, gardens and commercial properties suffered damage as a result of the Playa Blanca weather.
Luckily just a couple of dozen towels stemmed the flow into our home – but many more were not so lucky. From some being knee deep in murky water, some losing valuable stock in their shops and warehouses, to others having serious structural impacts… it was certainly a Sunday to remember.
The Town centre was hit hard… and the traffic police came out in their waterproofs and white wellies, to organise the traffic through the High Street. The storm drains really were a sight to behold, as the water gushed through to the sea.
Rumour has it that another big storm is on its way – we’ll just batten down the hatches and wait and see… … …
