<description>Hi Sue. Do you have an Asesoria that sorts out your tax? If so, then they can get it for you (ours did).

If not - then is it directions to the office that you&#039;re after?

<description>Hi there Jay. You don&#039;t get child benefit in the same way as you would in the UK or Ireland here... although there is a payment of a very small amount (I think €25 per kiddie per month) that is payable twice a year. This is only paid however, if you are working, paying into the state system... and earning less than €10k per year (I also have heard it&#039;s only for kids under 3 - but I&#039;m unsure about that). You can claim it if you are working for a UK company whilst living here... but I don&#039;t know if that works the same with Ireland I&#039;m afraid. I know that some mothers have been able to claim benefit from Britain because their kids&#039; Dad still is a taxpayer in Britain. You would need to check with your local office in Ireland as to whether that applies there also.

This link may help too! http://www.seg-social.es/Internet_6/Trabajadores/PrestacionesPension10935/Prestacionesfamilia10967/index.htm Clcik the British flag at the top if that still takes you to a Spanish page.

<description>Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis, Rachael.

A real toughie this one, as there doesn&#039;t seem to be a hard and fast rule..

Those kinds of benefits are contribution based - and so at first glance it would seem that you&#039;re not entitled to them. However, we are not legal advisors... and I would advise you to go to the Social Security office in Arrecife as a first move. Do take a Spanish speaker with you.

The DWP in the UK may also be able to advise you of your rights. Here are a couple of links for you to have a look at.
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/BritonsLivingAbroad/Moneyabroad/DG_4000102
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/Introductiontofinancialsupport/DG_073387
http://ukinspain.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/living-in-spain/pensions-benefits/faq-pension-benefits/faq-general/dla

However, be warned that applying for this is not simple... and certainly not guaranteed. But at least it gives you somewhere to start.

The very best of luck hon.
