Promoting Lanzarote Online and Offline
As most of you will know, Lanzarote is massively dependant upon the tourist industry as its main source of income. Even if you do not provide services directly for holidaymakers, then generally you are supplying someone who does.
For example our guide to bars, cafes and restaurants in Lanzarote directly provides information to visitors to the Island. Our Lanzarote web design business does not… but does build plenty of sites for people that do. You may be a plumber… but perhaps some of the property owners you work for are renting out their properties to tourists. Or you might fix computers for someone who runs an online booking company or a bar. You get the idea.
More visitors to the Island means more Lanzarote jobs and business opportunities for people living in Lanzarote too.
So… promoting Lanzarote as a tourist destination, as well as a fantastic place to live, can only be good for the island and its inhabitants.
There are various ways to do this… and it is good to see that many already do. We always perk up when we see a new newspaper article, or when the Canarian government start billboard advertising in London Underground for example.
Just recently there has been a little flurry of articles… and if you have missed them previously – then here is another chance to read them.
Elle & Alan in the Sunday Express in August 2009. The same article was repeated in the Daily Express. Both of those articles went into the actual newspapers too, not just online, and the response has been tremendous!
Yes, Alan and myself again – this time in Spain magazine in April 2009
Paul and Sally of Sail Lanzarote in the Guardian. Unfortunately that article started with a derogatory description of the island… but as you carry on reading, it really pushed Lanzarote as a gem in the Atlantic.
In August President Zapatero was extolling the virtues of Lanzarote – insisting that everyone should visit. Ok, that would be nice if we could all stay in the King’s House in Costa Teguise too… but the rest of the island holds plenty of gems.
We ourselves will continue to boost Lanzarote at every opportunity, and we hope that you will do the same too. Forums, message boards, newspaper and magazine articles, blogs, websites – let’s keep reminding people how great this Island is!
