Paying Your Electric Bill in Lanzarote

Unelco (Endesa) is the main supplier of electricity in Lanzarote, and they have provided a couple of methods for paying your electricity bills on the Island.

Direct Debit – recommended by Unelco. Your asesoria can easily set this all up for you. If you fancy doing it yourself (hey, we shouldn’t be scared of having a go!) then you’ll need to visit the office in Arrecife.

If this is your first time, then the following information will also help.

If your new home is completely brand new, and has never has an electricity supply of its own before – then you will need:
1.  A “Boletin de Enganche” (connection certificate) – which must be supplied by the electrician who installed all your electrical wiring. Your property developer or Estate Agent can help with this if you have one.
2.  A “Licencia de Primera occupación”, or “Certificado de Habitabilidad”. This is a “First Occupation” licence, and you can get this from your municipal offices.

Whether your home is a new build,  or a property with an existing supply, you will also need:
1. A copy of the last electricity bill pertaining the property (for existing only)
2. Your passport or Spanish NIE number
3. If you are in rented property, then you will need a copy of your rental agreement
4. If you have purchased the property yourself, then you will need to provide a copy of the title deeds
5. Of course you will need your bank details, so that you can set up your standing order

Then just pop along to the offices, and they will sort it all out for you.
