Mental Health Centre in Lanzarote
The adviser of social services of the Lanzarote Cabildo, Joaquín Caraballo, announced yesterday that the urgent construction of a Mental Health Centre will commence in Lanzarote – with capacity for 50 people.
The Cabildo will contribute 30 per cent of the budget of the work, the Canarian Government 19 per cent and the Spanish Government 51 per cent, with special funds to encourage local employment and to strengthen the help to the mentally ill. The work will cost around €2.35 million and will be constructed in Tahíche.
Social services had already proposed the project and had submitted plans which were current for a decade. The works will have to be finished before June 2010 and the center will have a capacity for 35 places for residential pateinets and for 15 daytime visitors
The adviser pointed out that at present the persons’ waiting-list with psychic problems that do not receive any type of help in Lanzarote is fifteen, from which three would need residential care, nine would need daytime support and another three are yet to be assigned.

Do you know if this is the AMMA place in Tias?
Hi Dan. I got the impression that the one in this article was more about mental health patients… whereas AMMA is for geriatrics.
However, the following article may help you (it’s in Spanish… so you might need an online translater like babelfish if your Spanish isn’t too crash hot).

Hope that helps!
