Fundraising Event for “Help For Heroes” – 7th August
Many Lanzarote residents will know Karen and Colin, who own the transport company, C & K Haulage. This company transports people’s belongings to and from Lanzarote, and has a great reputation in the community here.
Their son, Daniel, left Lanzarote some time ago to join th British forces in Afghanistan, and unfortunately was badly injured. Luckily, Daniel is making a recovery, and we sih him all the best.
With this in mind, Karen and Colin are helping to raise much needed funds for the Charity “Help For Heroes” which provides support for wounded men and women from the Armed Forces.
There is a big open day being held on the 7th August at Playa De Los Pocillos, Puerto del Carmen. It all kicks off at 3pm, and will go on into the evening… with the following attractions included.
- Ice Cream
- Bouncy Castle
- Foam Party
- Face Painting
- Pony Rides
- Auctions
- Raffles
- Food Stands & Bars
- Live Music
- Fire Brigade Demo
- Military Merchandise
There are also performances from various Lanzarote entertainers such as…
- Skatoons
- Nauty Boyz
- The Soul Commitments
- Joy Council
- Africa Yeah
- Chrissy Looker
- Simply Wed
- and many more…
It promises to be a great event – so do try to get along!
However, we need your help too! Karen gives us the following message:
We have been given 10 flights as at very reduced price which has enabled us to bring 10 servicemen over for the event. They will be on hand to talk to the public and assist in raising awareness of this very worthwhile cause. We urgently need to raise financial assistance to pay for their accommodation. We are offering a promotion of your business logo on our truck that travels back and forwards to the England, you can see the vehicle in our ad which is in the Gazette each month. We are asking for pledges of €100 and the logo will be on the truck for a year. We are fully aware that so many businesses are having difficult times so rather than just asking for a donation their pledge gives them some advertising which will cost less than €2 per week.
Hope you can help out, guys! Please share the link to this article around your friends, family and contacts in Lanzarote.

We think that what our Boys do in the forces are second to none, and also the sacrifices they incur. On our little island, there has always been a boy who we met 4 years ago,he helped us out in our relocation and also lumped about our heavy !!! boxes that Colin & Karen brought over for us into our house and garage here in La Candelaria.
August 7th we will be there to give them our support, and that they all know that they are always in our thoughts.

Good idea Lanzarote Resident. Let’s hope that some extra people can come up trumps and give them somewhere to stay.

Just a thought but there may be villa owners with accommodation sat empty around that date. Could they donate their villas or apartments to help?
