Ems Story update on Life in Lanzarote.
Where do I begin, we have been here for nearly 9 months now and life is good, we have settled in well and are enjoying our Relocation to this wonderfull Island.
Emily is working with us with our Villa Management business, she helps us with the cleaning side of the business, she hoovers, mops and dusts and everyone has excepted her at the villas, wether they be guests or owners, she brings happiness to whoever she comes into contact with.
Emily is now 18 and celebrated by going too Rancho Texas and watching the Carmen Carnival in the evening and having her first, yes first alchoholic drink, a Bacardi Breezer which she said she got drunk on, bless her, she was up and dancing with bottle in hand making everyone smile, trying to impress some fitties I expect, the hussy.
Well bringing you all up to date, we are now trying to get Emily into school here, we werent going to but it was offered and we thought it would be a good idea so she could meet more new friends, at the moment its lots of paper work and visits too Arrecife, at least weekly at the moment, she has to have lots of Medical checks and also 2 letters, one from her UK DR saying that she has, wait for it “Down Syndrome” and then we had to get one from her Spanish DR to say the same, mad or what.We have to get it all sorted by June so she can start a course in September, so fingers crossed it all goes well.We also have found a few groups for Special Needs kids and teens, one is a club in Tahiche, one in Tias which we hope to get her in and another in Arrecife which is on Mon, Wed, Fri, either 9am till 1pm or 4pm till 7pm, the fee is 30 euros per month, which is nothing, so we hope to go for the first time this Friday evening, lets hope she likes it and there are plenty of Fitties there’ HAHA.
Emily also has a new friend called Amber who has lived on the Island a long time, her nanna came over to speak to us in Kentucky last week and they were introduced, I think they will become great friends.
Anyway thats the latest and will keep you all informed of Emilys future at school and her new clubs
I would also like to make 3 public thank yous, 1 to Elle (Ed: You’re more than welcome honey!) for telling me about a great Hairdresser called Mandy in Calero, who has become a good friend and helped me so much with translation for Ems transission into clubs and school and has took me under her wing and made it her mission to get Em every oppurtunity she can have on the Island and also a 3rd thank you to Thea, Mandys daughter for helping us in Arrecife today, she was a star and Mandy should be very proud of her.
Big Hugs to you all from Em.
Caroline Crane.
