Em’s Story – starting at Tahiche School
Emily started the special school in Tahiche last week, she was a bit aprehensive at first, [not as much as me though] but has very quickly settled in with the routine of getting up early and catching the bus at 8am to get to school.
We started off taking her in the mornings and the bus brought her back home so she could get used to the people and situation and this week the bus does both trips, she’s so good and gets on the bus on her own, says “Hola” and just gets on with it.
Em has a one to one helper called “Conchi” who guides her through the morning at school, I really don’t know how they get on with the communication side of it, but they seem to muddle through.
Em says she’s been on the computer and they show her pictures with the spanish words underneath to help her get the hang of the spanish language, she’s fed the Turtles which each class takes turns to do everyday which she loves and joins in very well.
Emily has made some friends, one of them is a FITTIE, very good looking Spanish boy who always says Hola in the mornings when he arrives at school, think a romance may start up there, bless them.
All the teachers and helpers have been very good and helped Emily mix in with all they do, we are very impressed so far and hope Emily keeps enjoying it.
Gavin and I would like to say we are so proud of Emily, going to a strange place where they dont speak English and trying her hardest to intergrate with all the Spanish kids, she really is amazing, I would be scared stiff, but she takes it all in her stride.
WELL DONE EM!
Gavin and Caroline-Very proud parents.
