Elle gets a massage in Lanzarote
Hi all! Some of you may remember that I trapped a nerve in my shoulder some months ago – which entailed a visit to the hospital in Arrecife. Since then I have had sporadic pain and numbness… and coupled with frozen shoulders and muscular problems in my back and neck over the years… has made life a tad uncomfortable for me.
Of course, sitting at a computer for hours and hours every day doesn’t help – and I knew that something had to be done.
We have known Lana Van Selman for some time now – and to be fair, she has been on at me to let her sort my pain out. You know how it is… life flies by so fast when you’re working, so it was some months before I actually got to go and see her.
We started off by discussing some of my medical history and general wellbeing… before I was popped up onto the table and Lana began her magic. I was first relaxed down using breathing techniques (which seemed very similar to the ones I used to do during Yoga years ago), then I was dry-brushed, before oil was applied and the massage therapy began… starting at my feet and working up. I knew that my back, shoulders and neck were in a bad way – and Lana quickly found this out too! But wow – she worked the knots and muscles beautifully for me.
Afterwards we had a good chat about posture (yes Mum – I do remember you telling me not to slouch as a child) and agreed that I would continue on a course of massage and manipulative treatment. We are also going to look at my diet, to stop me from losing more weight (I’m already quite the skinny bean), and to keep my energy levels high.
Lana has a calm and soothing demeanour, which relaxes you, and calms you during your treatment. She doesn’t just concentrate on the body – she also clears your mind, leaving you free of worry… if only for the couple of hours that you are in her hands. I was most impressed!
I left feeling extremely relaxed and chilled out – and floated on home, before having the best night’s sleep I’d had in a while.
Thanks Lana – and I look forward to seeing you Friday for my second treatment!
