Have you lost your dog?
A golden retriever has just been found wandering around in our complex (not far from Marina Rubicon). He is a male dog and is very very friendly. He is wearing a silver choker chain with a silver tag on it. Unfortunately there is no identity tag on him. The local police have him now, and are going to get a vet to check if he is chipped.
We have given him some food and water. He looks very well cared for… and has probably just done a “Houdini” out of his garden.
If this sounds like your doggie… then please contact the local police in Playa Blanca.
I’ve given him lots of cuddles and strokes, and he certainly enjoyed that.
Please pass this link to all of your friends so he can find his way home to his rightful owners again.

Looking for Lilly Bent
We had a lovely email this week from a lady who is seeking her cousin Lilly Bent who she believes may well be living in Lanzarote.
Here are a few details in case anyone knows of her.
The lady I am speaking to is called Margaret, who now lives in Canada. She says
We were just young girls the last time we met, I am now 79, she (Lilly) will be 80 – 81. Her maiden name was Lilly Hodson, Her father James [ Jimmy} & my Father Ellis Hodson were Brothers.
I had never heard of Lanzarote until a couple of days ago. I had a phone call from another cousin in the UK She gave me the info.
Lilly grew up in Leigh Lancashire UK Her Father was a Green Grocer.
If anyone know Lilly… or if indeed if Lilly reads this herself, then please contact me via elle@gandy-draper.com or on +34 664 085 499 and I will put you in touch with Margaret.
Thank you!
Arabella’s A Winner!!
Our regular readers will know that we recently shared the relocation story of Angela Poxon, whose family are very good friends of ours.
We have always commented on how beautiful their daughter, Arabella Louise is… and so now we are pleased to bring you some wonderful news – Angela and David’s daughter Arabella-Louise who was born on Lanzarote in 2004 has today been announced as the winner of a UK national modelling competition. Isn’t that fantastic?!
Arabella is now the official 2011 face of Stunning Photography (Oxfordshire’s Top Rated Photographers of 2010) and will be flying back again soon for the winner’s shoot!
Arabella also won a Top of The Tots competition in London in 2008 and has worked for a local Canary Islands agency MooToo when they have shot catalogues and campaigns on our very own island of Lanzarote.
Congratulations Arabella – it’s official – you really are Lanzarote’s Next Top Model!

Geoff Holt receives “Yachtsman of the Year” award
We knew he deserved it… and now it’s official! Our good friend Geoff Holt, who sailed from Playa Blanca Lanzarote to Tortola, British Virgin Islands has just won this prestigious award.
Geoff received his award from Sir Robin Knox-Johnston… who is only only yachtsman to win the award 3 times. Geoff also received a standing ovation for two minutes!
We’re extremely proud of your Geoff – well done! We know just how much this means to you. We’ll raise a celebratory glass or three with you and Elaine soon!

Merry Christmas
The day is finally upon us, and so we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We hope that the weather in places colder than Lanzarote hasn’t sabotaged your plans in any way… and that you are spending the time with the people that you love the most.
Much love from us all.
Elle, Alan and the two hounds! xx xx woof!
Alan in the El Sol News
A new monthly newspaper was launched recently in Lanzarote, and Alan was invited to be featured in their first issue.
They were keen to hear all about the charity walk he is doing from North to South of Lanzarote in February of next year.

Alan is on a mission
Some of you may have already heard… but Alan is planning to walk the length of Lanzarote, from Orzola to Playa Blanca on 4th February 2011.
Alan is a solitary creature, and had been planning this solo walk pretty much since we arrived a few years back… although his motivation needed a little help, as there is always something else to do instead.
So… to help him on his way, and to help him do it… he decided that it would be a great idea to raise a little money for charity too. This gives him the extra push needed to make sure it happens.
For more information, and to find out how you can help… have a look at this post from his personal blog: 4th February 2011
He’s a braver person than I! I love to walk, as you will know if you follow this site… but 73 kilometres is a long way! I’ll be cheering him on from behind my PC… and providing updates, photos and videos from his journey so you can all see how he’s getting along.
Yesterday he hit the gym for the first time in quite a while, and you can find out how he got on here: First day at the gym…

Congratulations to the Ecobs!
News has just come in that our good friends Paul and Nina Ecob who are well known for their La Bocaina Restaurant in Playa Blanca have just welcomed their firstborn son into the world.
Aaron Ecob has arrived safe and well slightly ahead of schedule but all news points to Mum & Baby doing well. We’ll post a photo once we get one.
Congratulations to the new parents!
