STOP, LOOK & LISTEN – Take your time when buying a business
Buying a business is a serious consideration and yet people still come to Lanzarote every year and make quick decisions within a couple of days to buy a place.

This is one of the largest single investments you will make in your lives so don’t be swayed by the crystal blue skies and the highly polished bar top – first think about what the business will require from you.

The decision to own a business means that you will take control of your life and your income but the idea you will spend every day sat on the beach sipping cocktails is highly unlikely. With most small businesses here you are buying a way of life and not a constant holiday, so take your time, look around you and talk to people that have experience and knowledge (those behind not in front of the bar).

Wherever you live in the world working is still working however in Lanzarote you will be working in a fantastic climate with the added bonus of when you have finished taking your time off to enjoy all the island has to offer. But it isn’t just about working owning a business requires a much higher level of commitment as well as patience and perseverance to achieve the best results.

At the moment in the world all seems to be “doom and gloom” so it is important to highlight there are business owners on this island that have owned their businesses for many years and have done very well from them. Many didn’t try to make a fortune or a “quick buck” but have worked hard through busy and quiet times to pay for their life here, property, cars and holidays. They will talk about the first months or even years when they worked many hours to bring customers in and that by the very nature of this island and its repeat tourism their reputation became their biggest asset.
