We were caught out this past weekend, with some of the heaviest rain that the Island has seen in quite a few years. Most of the Lanzarote escaped the torrents… but many homes, gardens and commercial properties suffered damage as a result of the Playa Blanca weather.

The Spanish social security system is very similar to that in the UK. You pay monthly, either as a self-employed person, or your Employer will take care of this for you. This entitles you to a pension, sickness benefit, unemployment benefit, maternity pay and the right to receive the same free healthcare as Spanish nationals. (more…)
