The new Ganigo shop opened in Playa Blanca this week, and as such, has opened up options for residents in the town. You can’t miss it - it’s the one with the gaudy yellow signage on the roundabout with the thermometer, as you enter the town. Best place to park is on the waste ground right opposite, next to the new bus station. (more…)
When people first move to Lanzarote they often get a car on a long term lease from one of the many reputable car hire companies on the Island to tide them over until they purchase one of their own. In fact, we know of some people here who have been using hire cars since they arrived a number of years ago. The pricing for this obviously varies from company to company, and from car to car. But a Corsa for example would usually knock you back by about €400 per month. So wouldn’t it be great if you could do that, but keep the car at the end? (more…)

We loved England, and still do, but it’s like the breakdown of a marriage. “I still love you, but I’m not in love with you any more”… There’s nothing we would rather be than English, but we chose to leave… We chose moving to Lanzarote as much through having friends here as anything else. It could have been anywhere, the place, believe it or not was not that important, we just wanted to emigrate. (more…)
One thing you will soon get used to seeing on Lanzarote is the Lanzarote Logo, designed by César Manrique. You’ll find it everywhere… It’s incorporated into the logos of many businesses on the island, you’ll see it as car stickers and on the wheel covers on many four wheel drives. You”ll also even see it painted onto the side of houses like this one at Playa Quemada…
