Using Lanzarote forums to get help
Get into those Lanzarote forums, and get chatting to people. We were online, building relationships, for months before we arrived. Lanzarote Island was especially useful for us, and led to us meeting Angela from Montaña Villas & Pools, who was able to find us somewhere to live too. Fans and residents of the Island, such as CeltyGirl, Madstock, Josie, Lynne from SARA and Will2 were able to tell us where were good places to eat, how to get around the island, and where the best places to shop were. When we first arrived, we were able to meet up with “Biffa”, who had moved over just a couple of months before us, and who had oodles of tips to make our transition easier. We’ve now met many, many people from the forums, and consider many of them good friends.
The Gazette’s Resident’s Corner too, continues to be a source of useful information - oh, and entertainment too! There’s always some spat between people or companies on any forum… but hey, it makes life a bit more colourful… albeit in a morbid fascination kind of way.
Do remember though, that not everyone is who they would appear to be. The internet can be as anonymous as people want it to be… and we’ve often seen character assassination across message boards. Don’t take it too seriously, and you’ll be fine.
Soon you will have a network of people, all wanting to share their experiences with you… give you their advice… help you make that move… whilst reminding you that they’re insanely jealous. Be smug about it! We are! But always tongue-in-cheek of course.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Even the simplest of questions may be worrying you - but a quick post in a forum, or an email to a friendly ear can take that worry away. We regularly receive emails from people planning for the move, and we insist that they just send over whatever questions they have. If it’s important to you… then it may be important to somebody else too - and so you’re then helping someone else who may be too shy to ask.
We’ll see you in there! My username is “Elle1971″, and Alan is simply “Alan”
